GOD IS
SPEAKING, ARE WE LISTENING?
10 these are the things God has
revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep
things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except
their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God
except the Spirit of God.
10 Éstas son las cosas que Dios nos ha hecho conocer por
medio del Espíritu, pues el Espíritu lo examina todo, hasta las cosas más
profundas de Dios. 11 ¿Quién entre los hombres puede saber lo
que hay en el corazón del hombre, sino sólo el espíritu que está dentro del

The Holy
Spirit is God! - El Espíritu Santo es Dios!
So what has
the Spirit revealed to us? - Así qué ¿que nos ha revelado el Espíritu?
The
Father, through the Spirit, has unveiled this hidden mystery in Christ. All
wisdom is in Christ... The Spirit is our only means of knowing God. This is the continuing emphasis of the entire context that
human means are unable to know God or the things (i.e. plans) of God. “Deep” is
a metaphor of that which is (1) profound as opposed to shallow or (2) hidden
beyond mankind’s reach or discovery. The Spirit’s work is crucial in
conviction, salvation, and Christ-like living . (Bob Utely)

The Holy Spirit opens our eyes to our sinfulness, our need of a Savior
(Jesus), our acceptance of the Savior, and our transformation.

Will you

there are two spirits—there is the
Spirit of God and the spirit of the world. This last is everywhere active and
Believers feel it to be their foe—it works
evil and only evil. Only the Spirit of God can save you—the spirit of the world will ruin all who yield to it. I warn you against
the spirit of this age—the spirit of the
world. Do not lay yourselves under the influence of the spirit of the
world... Keep clear of the spirit of the world as much as possible... You
cannot expect the Spirit of God to bless you if you yield to the spirit of the

It is so
important not to get weighed down with the spirit of this world/culture. It
always leads to sin. What is the spirit of this world?

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity
and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft;

Although the
Holy Spirit works in the world; where can we best find the Holy Spirit? -

If you would find eternal life, go where the Spirit of
God works—search
the Scriptures and hear the Truth of God through which the Spirit of God
usually operates. And associate with those in whom the Spirit of God dwells.
Hear that preaching which comes from God—for that
alone will lead you to Him.
You can soon tell what sort the preaching is—I do not think you
need stay ten minutes before you will find out whether it is according to
the spirit of the world, or is in the power of the Spirit of God. (Charles

Si encontraran vida eterna, vayan donde el Espíritu

12 What we have received is not
the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may

What is the gift He gives?

They are altogether immeasurable, these “things
that are freely given to us of God.” Shall I tell you what
they are in one word? GOD. God gives us God. God the Father gives Himself to
the unworthy sons of men. He becomes their Father and their Friend... Beloved,
the Son of God also gives Himself. “He loved
me and gave Himself for me.” “He His
own Self bore our sins in His own body on the tree.” Jesus gives His people His blood to wash out their sins,
His righteousness to cover them with beauty, His intercession to plead their
cause and His enthronement to secure their victory. He gives His loving care to
prepare a place for them in the sky. He gives His resurrection to bring them up
from the grave and His union with them to preserve them through the perils of
life... The Holy Spirit also freely gives Himself to us. He is the “free Spirit,” and never
freer than when He gives Himself to enlighten, quicken, convert, comfort and
sanctify His people. He leads us to repentance and to faith. He conducts us to
knowledge and holiness. He preserves and perfectly conforms us to the image of
Christ.

nos conduce al conocimiento y santidad.

Who wants God? - ¿Quién

14 The person without the
Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers
them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only
through the Spirit.
14 El que no es espiritual no acepta las cosas que son

entender, porque son cosas que tienen que juzgarse espiritualmente.
Men
without the Spirit receive not the things of God. The understanding, through the corruption of nature by the
fall, and through the confirmation of this disorder by customary sin, is
utterly unapt to receive the rays of divine light; it is prejudiced against
them. The truths of God are foolishness to such a mind. The man looks on them
as trifling and impertinent things, not worth his minding. (Matthew Henry)
El hombre sin el Espíritu recibe nada de las cosas de
Dios. El entendimiento, a través de la

human departure from God! But say, “I know and once more am I confirmed in the
fact that the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God!” (Charles Spurgeon)

15 The person with the Spirit
makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely
human judgments, 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so
as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of
Christ.
15 Pero aquel que tiene el Espíritu puede juzgar todas
las cosas, y nadie lo puede juzgar a él. 16 Pues la Escritura dice:

Christians,
because we live in relationship with Jesus Christ and are guided by the Holy
Spirit; we can judge correctly not just Spiritual matters but also the matters
of this world.

Does the

when Christians make judgments about the world? Are Christians qualified to judge matters of this

But, adds the apostle, we have the mind of Christ;
and the mind of Christ is the mind of God. He is God, and the principal
messenger and prophet of God. And the apostles were empowered by his Spirit to
make known his mind to us. And in the holy scriptures the mind of Christ, and
the mind of God in Christ, are fully revealed to us. Observe, It is the great
privilege of Christians that they have the mind of Christ revealed to them by

Brothers and sisters, whether we judge spiritual or
worldly matters, we must employ the mind of Christ through HIS WORD. - Hermanos
