Corinthians 15 : 1-11
THE TRIPLE
CROWN
15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind
you of the gospel [Good news] I preached to you, which you received and on
which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are
saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed
in vain.
15 Ahora, hermanos, quiero que se acuerden del evangelio
que les he predicado. Éste es el evangelio que ustedes aceptaron, y en el cual
están firmes. 2 También por medio de este evangelio se
salvarán, si se mantienen firmes en él, tal como yo se lo anuncié; de lo
contrario, habrán creído en vano.
In light of false teachers, Paul reminds the church to
stick to the truth that he had taught them and continues to teach them. / A la
luz de los maestros falsos, Saulo le recuerda a la iglesia mantenerse en la
verdad que él les ha enseñado y que continúa enseñándoles.
It was what he constantly preached. His word was
not yea and nay: he always preached the same gospel, and taught the same truth... The doctrine which Paul had heretofore taught, he still
taught. It was what they had received; they had been convinced of the faith,
believed it in their hearts, or at least made profession of doing so with their
mouths. It was no strange doctrine.(Matthew Henry)
Fue
lo que él predicó constantemente. Su
palabra no fue si o no: él siempre predicó el mismo evangelio, y enseñó la

Is the Gospel you hear here the same as Paul's
Gospel? Are there false Gospels being taught today? If so, what are they?

Universalism = It doesn't matter how you live
because we are all basically good and we will ALL go to heaven. Is this the truth?

The truth is, we will All live forever...Where is
our choice.

Eternal horror or splendor, the choice is
ours...but today we are offered splendor!

Today we are offered three victories! The Triple
Crown!

3 For what I
received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures,

Paul did not
make up the gospel he taught, he received it from reliable sources.
Saulo no se inventó el evangelio que enseñó, él los

This refers
to (1) Christian witness that Paul received (i.e. from Stephen, Acts 7; from
Ananias; and from persecuted Christians; (2) direct revelation from the Lord.
Paul passed on the gospel truths he had received. Paul was not an innovator,
but a faithful witness and applied the gospel truths to new situations. (Bob

Esto se refiere a (1) El cristiano testifica lo que
Saulo recibió (ejemplo: de Esteban, Hechos 7; de Ananías; y de los cristianos
perseguidos; (2) revelación directa del Señor.

Part of the truth Paul received is that Jesus died
for our sins. Jesus was the eternal sacrifice that removed our sins from us.

Today we celebrate our victory over sin...we no
longer need to be burdened with bad feelings, guilt, and shame over our sins...
Christ has taken them from us...

cargados con el mal sentimiento, culpabilidad, y vergüenza sobre nuestros

eterno, Cristo se ofreció a sí mismo a Dios como sacrificio sin mancha, y su
sangre limpia nuestra conciencia de las obras que llevan a la muerte, para
que podamos servir al Dios viviente.15 Por eso, Jesucristo
es mediador de una nueva alianza y un nuevo testamento, pues con su muerte
libra a los hombres de los pecados cometidos bajo la primera alianza, y hace
posible que los que Dios ha llamado reciban la herencia eterna que él les ha
prometido. 16 Para que un testamento entre en vigor, tiene
que comprobarse primero la muerte de la persona que lo hizo.
We have victory over sin! Can we obtain victory over sin by any other means?

4 that he was
buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and
that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6 After
that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the
same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then
he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,

The resurrection of Jesus is the core of our
faith.
La
resurrección de Jesús es la el núcleo de nuestra fe.
The doctrine of Christ's death and resurrection is
at the foundation of Christianity. Remove this foundation, and the whole fabric
falls, all our hopes for eternity sink at once. And it is by holding this truth firmly that Christians are
made to stand in a day of trial, and kept faithful to God... Christ's death and
resurrection are the very sum and substance of evangelical truth. Hence we
derive our spiritual life now, and here we must found our hopes of everlasting

La
doctrina de la muerte de Cristo y la resurrección es en la fundación de la
cristiandad. Remuevan esta fundación, y
la tela completa se cae, todas nuestras esperanzas por la eternidad se hunden

Does our
culture believe Jesus rose from the dead? Do we believe it?
¿Cree nuestra cultura que Jesús resucitó de la
muerte? ¿Lo creemos nosotros?
In different places, and at different hours; sometimes by
one, sometimes by eleven, once by 500 brethren at once, Jesus was seen after He
had risen from the dead! As I have often said, there is no historical fact
that is so well authenticated as that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.(Charles

It is a
historical fact that Jesus rose...Why doesn't our culture accept this truth?

Evidence for
the resurrection
1. Fifty (50)
days later, at Pentecost, the resurrection had become the key note of Peter’s
sermon (cf. Acts 2). Thousands who lived in the area where it happened
believed!
2. The lives
of the disciples were changed radically from discouragement to boldness(they were not expecting
resurrection), even martyrdom.(Bob Utely)
3. Over 500
people at one time witnessed the resurrected Jesus.
4. Over the
centuries billions of lives have been changed by a living Jesus.
5. The
evidence of Jesus in our lives.

How have we
experienced the living Jesus? Are we different?

This brings
me to our second victory...because Jesus defeated death, we now are heirs of
eternal life. We have victory over death!
Esto me trae a nuestra segunda victoria... porque
Jesús derrotó a la muerte, ahora nosotros somos herederos de la vida eterna. Nosotros tenemos victoria sobre la muerte!
Romans
6:3-5 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ
Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried
with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised
from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 For
if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be
united with him in a resurrection like his.
Romanos 6:3-5 3 ¿No saben ustedes que, al
quedar unidos a Cristo Jesús en el bautismo, quedamos unidos a su muerte? 4 Pues
por el bautismo fuimos sepultados con Cristo, y morimos para ser resucitados y

WOW!
8 and last of
all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. 9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even
deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
8 Por último se me apareció también a mí, que soy como
un niño nacido anormalmente. 9 Pues yo soy el menos importante de los
apóstoles, y ni siquiera merezco llamarme apóstol, porque perseguí a la iglesia
de Dios.
Paul always remembered who he was before his
conversion...I believe it was a source of strength for him.
Pablo
siempre recodó quien era él antes de su conversión... Yo creo que era una
fuente de fortaleza para él.
Paul was really born again because he was thoroughly
converted. Never was there a greater
change in any man than there was in him! He never went
back to his former life and he had no hankering to return to it. With him, old
things had passed away and all things had become new—he was, indeed, a new
creature in Christ Jesus!

Brothers and sisters, in the same way we can use our past
sins to strengthen us...don't let our past sins weigh us down...let them lift
us up...we are new creations, the old has passed away!

soul, than that Paul who, before, had been the blood thirsty Saul of Tarsus!
His witness may well be believed and, in connection with all that went before
it, it proves beyond all doubt that He who was crucified and was laid in the
tomb, did certainly rise, again, and was seen in life after death.(Charles Spurgeon)
No humano

Who, here, is proof of the resurrection?

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his
grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet
not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

Did Paul take credit for his ministry?

We are nothing but what God makes us, nothing in
religion but what his grace makes us. All that is good in us is a stream from
this fountain. Paul was sensible of this, and kept humble and thankful by this
conviction; so should we.(Matthew Henry)

No! He glorified Jesus, and that is exactly what
we are to do...point to Jesus! Do we point to Jesus in our words and deeds?

This brings to our third victory, our victory over
sin...we can now live a new life... a life in the Spirit and a holy life.

Colosenses 2:13-15 13 Ustedes, en otro tiempo,

John 4:3-4 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from
God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming
and even now is already in the world. 4 You, dear children,
are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater
than the one (the devil) who is in the world.
1 Juan 4:3-4 3 El que no reconoce así a
Jesús, no tiene el Espíritu de Dios; al contrario, tiene el espíritu del Anticristo.
Ustedes han oído que ese espíritu ha de venir; pues bien, ya está en el mundo. 4 Hijitos,

ustedes es más poderoso que el (diablo) que está en el mundo.
The Holy Spirit indwells
us and gives us power/ victory over Satan. Does the church realize it? Dow we
realize it?
El Espíritu Santo mora en nosotros y nos da poder / victoria sobre
Satanás. ¿Se da cuenta la iglesia de
esto? ¿Nosotros?
11 Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we
preach, and this is what you believed.
11 Lo que importa es que, tanto yo como ellos, esto es lo
que hemos predicado, y esto es lo que ustedes han creído.
What does
Paul mean by believe or faith? Reading our Bibles? Going to church on Sunday?
¿A qué se refiere Pablo con creer o fe? ¿Leer nuestras
Biblias? ¿Ir a la iglesia los domingos?
Faith is living in a
relationship with Jesus. It is NOT simply religion. When we live in a
relationship with Jesus, we have the TRIPLE CROWN!
Fe
es vivir en una relación con Jesús. No
es una simple religión. Cuando vivimos
en una relación con Jesús, nosotros tenemos la CORONA TRIPLE!
We
have victory over our sins...our deaths...and the devil. Are we living like
triple Crown winners, like people who
belong to Jesus and live in Him? Why not? Why not start?
Nosotros
tenemos la victoria sobre nuestros pecados... nuestras muertes... y el
diablo. ¿Estamos viviendo como campeones
de la triple corana, como las gente que pertenece a Jesús y vive para El? ¿Por
qué no? ¿Por qué no empezar?
