2 Corinthians 3:7-18 7 Now if the ministry
that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so
that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its
glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the
Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brought
condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings
righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in
comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was
transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts! 12 Therefore,
since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like
Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing
the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were made
dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It
has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even
to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But
whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now
the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And
we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate
the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with
ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

hacemos como Moisés, que se tapaba la cara con un velo para que los israelitas
no vieran el fin de aquello que estaba destinado a desaparecer. 14 Pero
ellos se negaron a entender esto, y todavía ahora, cuando leen la antigua
alianza, ese mismo velo les impide entender, pues no les ha sido quitado,
porque solamente se quita por medio de Cristo. 15 Hasta el día
de hoy, cuando leen los libros de Moisés, un velo cubre su entendimiento. 16 Pero
cuando una persona se vuelve al Señor, el velo se le quita. 17 Porque
el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.
18 Por eso, todos nosotros, ya sin el velo que nos cubría la
cara, somos como un espejo que refleja la gloria del Señor, y vamos
transformándonos en su imagen misma, porque cada vez tenemos más de su gloria,
y esto por la acción del Señor, que es el Espíritu.

la promulgación de una ley que llevaba a la muerte y que estaba grabada sobre
tablas de piedra se hizo con tanta gloria que los israelitas ni siquiera podían
mirar la cara de Moisés, debido a que ese resplandor destinado a desaparecer
era tan grande, 8 ¡cuánta más será la gloria del anuncio de una
nueva alianza fundada en el Espíritu!
Paul is comparing the old
covenant of the ten commandments to the New covenant of the Holy Spirit that
has come in Jesus Christ. The old covenant wasn't bad...in fact Paul says it
was glorious and it was. Remember Moses receiving the ten commandments on Mount
Sinai and his face glowing so much that he had to wear a veil so as not to
scare his people. The old covenant was glorious.

The old covenant presented
laws that pointed out our sins and mandated obedience. The new covenant is all
about a restored relationship with God through Jesus. Jeremiah, about 600 years
before Christ was born, wrote about this new covenant in Christ.

is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,”
declares the Lord. “I will put my law in
their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they
will be my people. 34 No longer will they teach their
neighbor, or say to one another,
‘Know the Lord,’ because they
will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord.“For I will forgive their
wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

«Vendrá un día en que haré una nueva alianza con Israel y con Judá. 32 Esta

This is the essence of Christianity. It is about a relationship
with Jesus/ God and NOT about religion.

brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that
brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now

decir, que si fue tan gloriosa la promulgación de una ley que sirvió para
condenarnos, ¡cuánto más glorioso será el anuncio de que Dios nos hace justos! 10 Porque

Although the old covenant
was glorious, it only pointed out our sins and led to condemnation and death.
There was no forgiveness of sin. Forgiveness of sin and a restored relationship
with God comes only in and through the blood of Jesus. In Jesus there is life.
A pesar de que
el antiguo pacto fue glorioso, sólo señaló
nuestros pecados y la condenación y la muerte. No hubo perdón del pecado. El
perdón del pecado y una relación restaurada con Dios viene sólo en y por la sangre de Jesús. En Jesús hay vida.
John affirms this in his gospel: Juan afirma esto en su evangelio:
John 1:17-18 17 For the law was given
through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No
one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is
in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

When Moses received the law and later when he talked to
God...his face would glow and the people were afraid.
Cuando Moisés recibió la ley y

Exodus 34:30-35 30 When Aaron and all
the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come
near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the
leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward
all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. 33 When
Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But
whenever he entered the Lord’s
presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he
came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they
saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face
until he went in to speak with the Lord.

Only the grace of God can remove the veil :the
blindness of tradition, self-righteousness, and sin. Religious people are as
prone to spiritual blindness as non-religious people.
Sólo la gracia de Dios puede descorrer el velo: la ceguera de la tradición, la
justicia propia, y el pecado. Las personas religiosas son tan propensos a la
ceguera espiritual, como las personas no religiosas.
The Jews still have a veil over their eyes
pertaining to God just as all unbelievers do...only God can remove the veil.

...when any particular person is converted to God, then the veil of ignorance
is taken away; the blindness of the mind, and the hardness of the heart, are

where he works, as he does under the gospel-dispensation, there is liberty,
freedom from the yoke of the ceremonial law, and from the servitude of

for with open face we behold the glory of the Lord... This light and liberty are transforming; we are
changed into the same image, from glory to glory , from one degree

And what a tremendous freedom we have in Jesus! And daily we
should be becoming more like Jesus! Not out of obligation but out of love.

17 Now the Lord is the
Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Does this mean the ten commandments are no longer important?
Does this mean if we believe in Jesus we can do whatever we want?

F. F. Bruce, in his book, Paul: Apostle
of the Heart Set Free, says:"Paul certainly knew the love of Christ to
be the all-compelling power in life. Where love is the compelling power, there
is no sense of strain or conflict or bondage in doing what is right: the
man or woman who is compelled by Jesus' love and empowered by his Spirit does
the will of God from the heart. For (as Paul could say from experience)
'where the Spirit of the Lord is, there the heart is free'".
FF Bruce, en su libro, Pablo:
Apóstol del Corazón libre, dice: "Pablo ciertamente sabía que el amor de
Cristo a ser el poder que todo lo que obliga en la vida donde el amor es el
poder convincente, no hay sensación de tensión o conflicto. o servidumbre en
hacer lo que es correcto: el hombre o la mujer que está obligado por el amor de
Jesús y capacitado por el Espíritu hace la voluntad de Dios desde el corazón

We
are now free to live as we want...BUT, our desire is to live to please
Jesus...His law is written on our minds and hearts. It is relationship and not
religion!
Ahora somos libres de vivir
como queremos ... PERO, nuestro deseo es vivir para agradar a Jesús ...
Su ley está escrita en nuestras mentes y corazones. Es la relación y no la

last Sunday in the fundamentals class we were studying the 10 commandments. We
came to the conclusion we were all Sabbath breakers, murderers, liars, thieves,
gossips, and adulterers...we realized we could not keep the ten
commandments....we are doomed for hell. So who can save us from such a terrible
fate?

So
what is a believer? It is not head knowledge-it is living in a relationship
with Jesus.

18 And we all, who with

Some
people say, “Then, sir, you mean to say that Christians may live as they like?”
If a Christian could live as he liked, he would always live as he ought. It is
a slavery to him to sin—righteousness is his delight! The greatest happiness of a Christian is to be holy! It is no slavery to him. Holiness is his pleasure—sin is his slavery. Ah, you poor bondsmen who come to church or chapel
because you must! Ah, you poor slavish moralists that are honest because of the

Do
we understand what a high and wonderful calling we have...we live in
relationship with the living God and in this relationship we live to please Him...Is
that slavery? No it is freedom! It is what we were created for!
¿Entendemos lo que es una vocación elevada y maravillosa que tenemos ... vivimos en relación con el Dios vivo y en esta relación vivimos para agradar a Dios ... es que la esclavitud? No es la libertad! Es lo que hemos sido creados para el!
Gálatas 5:1-6 5 Cristo nos dio libertad para que seamos libres. Por
lo tanto, manténganse ustedes firmes en esa libertad y no se sometan otra vez

reconocidos como justos por cumplir la ley, se han apartado de Cristo; han

The
only thing that counts is us living in a relationship with Jesus which
expresses itself in LOVE. Are we more loving today than we were last year, last
month, last week, yesterday? LOVE is freedom....freedom from sin, death, the devil, the law, and religion. Will we
embrace this freedom, this relationship and live in Christ or do we prefer to
stay at arm's length and simply practice religion.
Lo único que cuenta es
que vivimos en una relación con Jesús que se expresa en el amor. ¿Estamos más
amoroso hoy que el año pasado, el mes pasado, la semana pasada, ayer? El AMOR
es la libertad .... libertad del pecado, la muerte, el diablo, la ley y la
religión. Vamos a abrazar esta libertad, esta relación y vivir en Cristo o
preferimos permanecer en condiciones de competencia y simplemente practicar la
religión.

then you're in the right place. If you want to fulfill your Sunday obligation
or want Krispy crème donuts and Starbucks coffee...it is not here.
