LONGWOOD, FL—Xulon Press author Rick Bezanson’s Go to Jail! A Call to Christians (paperback) is a call for Christians worldwide to take the mission of Christ outside the walls of the church. It was written to encourage these Christians to reach out to the inmates in the local jails in order to transform the inmates’ lives with the enduring love of Christ. By implementing the principles set forth in this book, readers will find their lives and their church transformed by the love of God.

Says Bezanson, “I hope the reader will focus their attention to mission outside the local congregation rather than programs and stuff inside the walls of the church. The mission is to go take the Good News of Jesus outside the local congregation even if it means going into the local jails. I hope the reader will go onto some mission field and be transformed by Jesus.”

As a pastor, Bezanson has been involved in urban ministry in the greater Phoenix area for 14 years. During this time, he has worked with inmates, families of inmates, and people in recovery. Go to Jail! is the culmination of many talks and training classes for pastors and laity interested in jail or prison ministry. He has found that prisoners are longing for transformation and are desperately in need of the words of Jesus. With the release of his first publication, he hopes to help equip others to bring Jesus’ words to prisoners as well.

Rick Bezanson is the senior pastor of Amazing Grace Christian Church in Glendale , Arizona . He recently received his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.
